Redbirdmusic notes

The Royerton Redbird Music Program offers students many forms of self-expression through singing, movement, drama, and playing instruments.

Mrs. Eichhorn introduces Kindergartners to rhymes and songs through the John Feierabend Curriculum.  Young students build up a repertoire they can share and enjoy.  First through third grade students are given a variety of musical experiences using the Spotlight On Music series and Orff and Kodaly methods.  Fourth grade students learn to play recorder and experience playing in an ensemble.  They also learn Indiana history through music.  Fifth graders enjoy beginning guitar lessons and combine the various instruments available in the Music room into an ensemble.

Also available is the ROYERTON REDBIRD choir for 4th and 5th graders.  The group meets on Tuesdays from 2:35-3:30 all year long.  This choir is a school ambassador and enjoys performing at school and community events.

For students interested in playing instruments, Mrs. Eichhorn offers the ROYERTON ROCKERS on Thursdays from 2:35-3:30.  Students hone their musical skills as they play with this ensemble.  This group also performs at school and community functions.

It is the goal of this program to develop young musicians that can appreciate and participate in music all of their lives.
